What Are Seed Grants?

The Auster Center offers seed grants to Tufts faculty and Auster Center Fellows to rapidly advance the translation of their research through entrepreneurial, transdisciplinary projects. These grants are designed to bridge the gap between foundational research and real-world application—funding the hands-on validation work that larger grants rarely cover.

Seed grants support activities such as market analysis, business model development, team building, prototype development, manufacturing feasibility studies, and partnership development.

Eligibility

Seed grants are open to all Tufts researchers across every school and discipline. Whether you are early in exploring the potential of your research or actively pursuing a translation pathway, seed grants can provide the momentum to move forward.

Funding

Grant awards vary from $7,500 to $25,000, contingent on funding availability and the specific details of the innovation program to which they are associated.

How to Apply

Calls for seed grant proposals are announced on a rolling basis per innovation program. Check the News page for the latest announcements and application details.
